Happy New Year, Campers

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Newscoma | Posted on 01-01-2007

I really don’t make New Year’s Resolutions. Never have. I set goals all the time that I try to reach so being that it’s a new year, I guess I fall into the category of one of those people that always has something in front of them, be it personal or professionally. Who needs a New Year’s Resolution?

I’m stressed out about keeping goals year round

This year has been rough. There were terrible times at work in the spring due to some employee discontent that got personal (against me, unfortunately) and then again when I returned to work after the hystie.  SQ’s dad and grandmother died within months of each other, and she needed care. Now, campers, try taking care of someone that refuses to talk about anything. It ain’t easy.

I also had the Utero Out Tour 2006 which wasn’t so bad. I woke up one morning and just felt better. And I felt more optimistic that it was a good move because I was really sick. Sicker than I even knew. So, I have that going for me and it is of the good.

I met some great people. In the “real” world and in the blogosphere. I hope those relationships continue to grow.

I’ve made peace with the Powers That Be and with Big Daddy and Hello Nurse. This is also of the good.  I’m hoping to continue the content I feel within myself and these folks.

I realized that I can do what ever the hell I want to as long as I don’t hurt anybody else. This is the biggest life lesson I’ve ever had the pleasure of learning. I really used to not be this way.

What do I want in 2007?

More independence, new adventures, fine wine with my friends and a chance to laugh at all the shit stuff that life throws at me.

You see, I don’t need very much in all honesty. But I want plenty and these things aren’t materialistic (except maybe a sexy Porshe. I always thought I’d look great in a Porshe.)

These things are tangible and they include what I already have.

So Happy New Year. Don’t get arrested, don’t take off your clothes around toothless people or barf on your boss because it is not a good way to start out a new year. And remember to eat the ham hocks, black-eyed peas and greens forSteve Goodman Affordable Art good luck tomorrow to keep the karma going.

Going to listen to my Affordable Art CD by Steve Goodman now. The song “Vegamatic” almost got me fired from my former career in radio. It was actually the song I was playing (on vinyl, mind you) when I met Squirrel Girl in 1985.

If you’ve heard it, you know what I’m talking about. And, yeah, I almost got canned. But I didn’t.

Such is the life of newscoma.

Lazy New Year’s Eve

Okay. I’m digging this wordpress thing.

Thanks Lynnster. As you love music I will now break out into a version of “I Think I Love You” by the infamous and oh-so trendy Partridge Family.

One last reminder that when you have a bit of time, change your links to head over in this direction. Much obliged.

Going back to watch me some boys throwing the pig around and getting ready for the last night of holiday festivities. We’re going here to our friend’s house out on the farm. There will be frivolity, I have no doubt. Although I must say I’m ready to get back to some normalcy.

There are apparently some zebras down the road. Not a usual occurrence in Hooterville but I’m up for it.
