I visit Frank a lot. He is always insightful, throws some great links up for me to peruse around but today, one link he had up took my breath away.

I read this post and I have to say my stomach clenched because the pain and resolve expressed in this post was so real and this young man’s loss and the sacrifice touched me. The voice that goes with everything we see everyday on the telly is what I think all of us need to remember.

Keep us informed Frank, and Sgt. Thomas Nichols.

Please.

T.O., Romo, Uh-Oh

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Asshats | Posted on 07-01-2007

I know, I know, the Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team. And yeah, I also am aware that they lost the game for themselves last night with Tony Romo’s ill advised bobble at the end of the game that would have pushed “How ’bout them Cowboys?” into another round of the playoffs. Instead, once again, we see that one bad play can change the course of a history and create an on-going public nightmare for Romo because the mainstream sports media is going to show this clip for the rest of his career.

And I have no feelings, positive or negative, on the Seattle Seahawks win. I also saw Peyton Manning have a terrible game yesterday that, if his play continues at this level, is, once again, not going to get him in yet another Super Bowl and I like Peyton just fine (Vols fan here.)

But that was a cluster you-know-what last night. And although I know that people love the Cowboys just like other people love the Yankees, I couldn’t help but go “HA” because of one player having to watch the playoffs from home.

Terrell Owens, I know this wasn’t your fault last night but I can’t help but be glad that you are going to be sitting home with the rest of us, because, sir, you are an asshat. Good receiver but an asshat nonetheless.

Although it was sad that Tony Romo cried and Owens wasn’t a complete jerk at last night’s press conference, I still hope Owens puts on his Spongebob Squarepants pajamas and eats popcorn from his couch and reflect that his attitude of negative publicity is better than no publicity at all is so tedious and that you are not a rebel without a cause, but a tedious overpaid football player whose mouth has a perpetual problem of verbal diarrhea.

Let’s be frank, T.O., you are not amusing or in the least bit entertaining.

As for Romo, I’d buy him a beer if I ever met him. Sometimes those little guys that hit the big time feel-good stories don’t always have a fairy tale ending. Next year will be better because God knows it can’t get any worse for him right now.

Hogzilla Two

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Alien Abductions | Posted on 07-01-2007

Another Hogzilla?

Let us delve in further:

A giant wild hog boasted to be bigger than the near-mythical “Hogzilla” caught in southern Georgia a few years ago has been killed in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood.

The hog hung snout down from a tree Friday in William Coursey’s front yard, not far from where the avid hunter said he shot the beast. He said he hauled it to a truck weight station, which recorded the hairy hog at 1,100 pounds.

All I have to say is wow. And I mean wow.

Hogs Gone Wild.

You must agree that this is something.

What, I have no idea but its something.

Yeah….she is cute. Maybe not, but she’s mine and I dig her.

She sleeps in the crook of my knees at night and cries when I leave in the morning.mabel-is-bored.jpg

Canine Kids. Gotta love ‘em.

Poop Happens, Dry Spot And B.’s Troll

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Groovy and Sexy | Posted on 07-01-2007

I was trying to find this blog to go on my blogroll but I typed in the name wrong.

So I went over here totally by mistake.

Which reminded me of Smiley being the master of his domain.

Which brought up this.

Which made me chortle with glee.

And go over here if you are a girl because it’s so darned funny that I laughed and laughed and laughed because, my dear cohorts, I no longer have a uterus troll.

Jealous.

You’ll need a few minutes and leave the kids in the closet while it’s playing. Or send them outside to ride their bikes. Yeah, that’s better than leaving them in the closet. Children’s Services probably wouldn’t approve.

By a mile.

Happy Day. I’m at home and feeling saucy.

When Conservatives and Pornographers Agree?

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Groovy and Sexy | Posted on 07-01-2007

Yeah, I read it. I’m a perv.(Not the porn, freaks. That’s for Thursdays.)

But the bottom line is when you look beyond the XXX rating is that the Internet Oversight Committee is watching us. Doesn’t matter if you are a liberal, a conservative, a Christian, a pornographer or a goat with typing skills.

The Internet’s key oversight agency has revived a proposal it earlier rejected to create an online red-light district, after adding stronger provisions to prohibit child pornography and require labeling of Web sites with sexually explicit materials.

The use of the proposed ”.xxx” domain name would remain voluntary, but any porn sites that choose to use it instead of the more popular ”.com” would be subject to the new terms issued late Friday by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.

The idea of a separate ”.xxx” domain has generated significant opposition from conservative groups and even some pornography Web sites.

You can self-tag it. Which means to me this is actually meaningless, but a political side-step. I can’t put my finger on it. If you have any ideas, let me know.

Porn sites would have to participate in a self-descriptive labeling system, likely one from the Internet Content Rating Association. Under it, Web sites add tags based on such criteria as the presence of nudity and whether it is in an artistic or educational context, such as for sites on breast feeding. Relatively few sites now participate, although major Web browsers have mechanisms for reading the tags.

ICM also would have to develop automated tools to check for compliance and give users ways to report violations.

I guess my question is “Where is this headed?” The whole article is interesting because it seems this is a bit of a mess and both sides sorta, and I use the words “sort of” very generically.

Weirdness.
