Archive for January 10th, 2007Bad Photos, Dogs Eating Off The TableWednesday, January 10th, 2007First of all, I’m not as good as Squirrely. Second of all, I’m not as good as Wage. Shut up. I’m having some laughs so here you go: Homer is attacked by the wiley, angry ways of Mabel. The big dog at the Commune. Her name is Jura (Squeegee likes good Scotch, thus the name) and Mabel can kick Jura’s ass (I’m not kidding) Most of the time, Jura tries to maim, but she sorta digs Mabel. Mabel’s collects garbage with Homer. OCD,No…. Umm … yeah. Licking tables is Homer’s way. And Mabel does it too. They have bonded. Neat freaks, gotta love ‘em. I have disgusted Homer for 35 years.(Sorry Homer.) I do not have very good skillz, but you think I’m amusing. Right? Right? I know, these photos are lame, but what about this one. Just messing around on Photoshop with crayons and a glass of Shiraz. In honor of Cohen, of course. You know, I do need a surge protector for my equipment. Because Severe Will Make You ScreamWednesday, January 10th, 2007When Bryan, who sent me the cool meme last month (yeah, I sent it to you which ain’t my style but I did it do to my own personal bravery and courage because I know most Tennesseans aren’t hip on the memes but I liked this one and dammit, I mean it this time), I was somewhat forlorn that he hadn’t been blogging during the holiday break but when I read lines like this when he came back, I just want to grin until my teeth fall out.
A collective sigh. The man gets it. You will never know how much I dig Bryan Appleyard and when I win the lottery, I’m buying him a pint. Or two. Me, I’m having three because it’s just darn good beer over the pond. Elvis, Surge Protectors And Steve’s Cool SpeechWednesday, January 10th, 2007I have always dug Steve Cohen. This week, he didn’t let us down.
But then he asked the speaker for a surge protector. Oh Steve, let me count the ways. I can’t help but go to Memphis all titillated this weekend knowing that he’ll be at the conference, and although I’m not the kind of person to approach people for anything other than a story, I just might look at him wistfully and sigh sweetly knowing that we got us a Tennessee congressman who seriously gives me a happy. Damn, I love me some Cohen. The Kurita ShuffleWednesday, January 10th, 2007So the e-mail was smoking from action going down on my computer at work today (man, I wish I didn’t have that “Can’t blog from the work computer thing” mantra that seers through my brain) and the phone was popping. Jumpin’ John Wilder is out. I was six when he became Lt. Gov for this fine state and I’m one of those older broads dancing around the Internet. But I’m not surprised. This is not unexpected because there was too much static going on since the Nov. election and the word that Kurita might do this was something mentioned to me a couple of weeks back in passing although I think the person who mentioned this to me didn’t think it would happen. Surprise. So, Ron Ramsey is the new guy and a Democrat pushed it through. I can’t help but wonder why? I can only speculate but I think this will blow over very quickly. John Wilder was so conservative that I’ve heard talk around the round table that he had considered switching to the party of the elephant (Remember back in the day, Former Majority Leader Milton Hamilton from Union City did), and I admit that is just talk (but I do live in McWherter country. Not that means anything but still.) So, we lose a conservative Lt. Governor. I hate that but for a liberal agenda, he neither helped nor hindered. Ramsey, on the other hand, is an unknown entity in a position of this nature. I don’t trust him either. Actually, I don’t trust the lot of them, but that’s another story for another day. I don’t think this is a big deal in the long term picture other than the fact that Kurita is the one who made history today voting with the Republicans. She is the one we need to be watching because, in all honesty, she just stepped into a boatload of power. Or stuff my dogs leave around the house when I’m out for entirely too long. Either way, she will be made the villain by some and trustworthy by others. I wonder where that’s going. That’s the question of the day, in my humble opinion. |
