Tanner In The Commerical Appeal
Congressman John Tanner has become a mover and a shaker in Washington according to a story in today’s Commerical Appeal:
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi can thank U.S. Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn., for scraping together the last few votes to pass the Iraq war supplemental with the bare minimum 218 votes required.
Tanner’s understated persuasiveness as chief deputy whip helped provoke President Bush’s promise to exercise his second-ever veto.
It’s a very interesting feature and shows some of the local things about Tanner as well as his political life in Washington. You might want to give it a read.
