Disappointment Exudes From My Dog

Anytime I get my duffle bag out to go on a trip, Mabel cries. This absolutely breaks my heart.

As she shakes and freaks out in a car, travel for the small, diminutive Mabel is never a good idea. And she must have known I was leaving as she tore up my checkbook yesterday, a paper sack and a pencil.

And last night I played with a pit bull who was a lot of fun but thought my finger was definitely tasty. Beautiful dog, but Mabel felt like I had committed an act of adultery when I got home and the offending dog slobber was on my finger. She promptly went and stood on a little table that is next to the chair I sit in.

Right now, she is giving me the look of disappointment and actually turned her back on me a few minutes ago.

Canine Children sulking is never a good time.

My dogs don’t get jealous if I come home after cheating on them, but my boy has to sniff every inch of my clothing. Remember those cheap magnet toys, where one was a stick with a magnet on the end and you could drag another piece, also with a magnet, all over the place? That’s what it’s like with my dog – my jeans are the north magnet and his nose is the south, and he’ll stay connected while I walk around the house. Hilarious.

That’s how my cats react when they see the suitcases, & the ‘big’ bowls of food & water.. it’s all wailing & gnashing of teeth. And I get ’scolded’ by them when I return.
4 ticked off felines are no fun.

  7. Lynnster says:

My mom’s cat’s reaction all depends on which size suitcase she gets out. If she gets the large ones out, the cat throws a fit. If it’s the smaller ones, the cat knows she won’t be gone that long and is fine.

We apparently also have a cat that can count. Mom will hold up how many fingers she’ll be gone – one day, two days, three days – if it’s not many, again, little reaction.

If it’s more… hoo boy. And boy, does she make her pay for it when she gets home.
