Spiral

There are times I get completely overwhelmed. And then, what tends to happen, is a I end up just starting blankly or I do very foolish things.

Part of my charm, or lack of it, I guess.

Yesterday, I took a bit of sabbatical from the innertubes, worked like a fiend at the non-virtual job, got a letter to the editor calling me out for using the word “partner” in a story (yes I ran it even though said author who is a preacher seriously doesn’t like me), hung out with some folks I dig, talked too much, was annoying, got too full of myself, spiraled into a bout of lack of self-confidence, had a headache because our offices are being renovated, pondered about death, contemplated my value in the world, watched Sanford and Son and then ate a sandwich.

With that said, being human is a very strange job indeed.

Good Lord. Yes, preacher, continue to bury your head in the sand. Because if we don’t address what you don’t like, it won’t exist. Lalalalalalalnotlisteninglalalalala.

Good on you for running it, though. Not only do you retain the well-deserved Fairness Queen crown, but your readers will be going, “Gah. People are dying. Why isn’t he worrying about them and the poor widders and orphans instead of yelling about grown people being happy?”

Hey, just for giggles, you ought to make sure and refer to everybody’s business cohorts in business stories as their “partners.” No, wait, he’d probably start boycotting them.

You’re nicer than I am. I’d've said, “Uh, preacher, does that beam in your eye bother you much?”

Kisses and hugs to you for surviving yet another day in your inimitable human-bean style. The best part? What Mr. Zevon said about your sandwich. Hope you did.
