Two Thoughts On The GOP

Two things happened yesterday that I think have great significance.

1. The Republican Party cannot really talk about the Hollywoodization (is that a word?) of the Democrats anymore when Fred Thompson announces on Jay Leno’s show that he’s running for president.

2. I agree with Sharon Cobb about the clip she has over at her house on the web. The exchange between Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee during Fox’s GOP debate was truly amazing. And, as I watched it twice, I swear I felt like something very important was happening. That there was an honest dialogue between the candidates on the war who both had valid points and who didn’t back away from them (although I lean toward what Paul said, of course.) I almost feel that I was witnessing something that will carry some weight in the coming days.

Now, the presidential race is going to get interesting.

Being the dilligent right winger that I am, I was downcast as I watched Gov. Arnold take the seat in California. Never again could I make fun of liberal Hollywood types talking about running for office.

Reagan could be explained as an exception, but with Arnold and now Thompson running, not so much.

But I’ve still got Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn to kick around, which does give me some comfort.

Last night I did a post on NiT on Ron Paul’s overwheilming victory in the Fox News Poll on who won the debate. I was blown away at the reponse. Around 70 comments so far and 95% of the comments were pro-Paul. I was informed by Christian that the traffic on this post was well over 10,000 in a few hours and it shut down the NiT website. As I said in the post, the Dems are fortunate to have an opposition party too entrenched and stupid to nominate their best and brightest hwo undoubtedly is Ron Paul. They simply just make fun of him.

  4. Mickey says:

The Left and the Right are afraid of Ron Paul. They don’t want you to listen to him, you might find out the truth, then they would be out of power and money.

  5. I know nothing about Ron Paul. Except Kat Coble is a big supporter…and I agree with her on political gunk, so I think I need to check him out. Been a bit out of the political scene the past few months. The last election drained me.
