I am an unfortunate cook.
I try, but many times my ideas on how to prepare fine cuisine falls flat. This past weekend, I tried to make a dish that should have been easy enough. Frozen hashbrowns, cream soup, cheese, throw it together and you were supposed to have a fine starchy dish that was supposed to have been edible.
Alas, I should have known better.
First of all, I’m not a big hashbrown person unless they are smothered and covered at the big Waffle House of love. Second, I thought it would at least have some semblance of flavor. Even loading it down with fresh basil, celery seed and pepper, it tasted like something that Mabel threw up. Not that I would know that bit of information personally, but in my mind I do believe that there would be similarities.
It certainly looked like something she would have thrown up.
As you have been told here before, my domesticity is a very sad affair. I’ve blown up toilets while cleaning them, knocked holes in walls and caught grilled cheese on fire. I’ve also, on occasion, been the reason that suds have overtaken the laundry room at the house.
I blamed it on Homer.
The only thing you’ll get here is zombie postings, political irritation and a Norman Lear comment. Culinary excellence, not so much.
I guess that’s not so bad. To quote Mike from Chez Bez, it is what it is.
With this said, I will never win a T-shirt from Home-Ec 101.

Thanks for the link love! I murder food all the time, so I can totally relate.
We’ll have a HE-101 big hair contest some day so you can win. That’s right, I’m all about stacking the deck in my buddies’ favor.
you might have been alright without the cream soup. but i’m also the girl that has tried to add nearly everything to ramen noodles to kick them up a notch. careful with that skillet.
My best recipe for mushrooms is to not eat the nasty things.
