How To Make Your Own Guillotine

Boing Boing is reporting some jacked up news about a man who made a guillotine to kill himself.

This is the most disturbing part to me.

Allen Park Deputy Police Chief Dale Covert said the roughly six-foot tall guillotine was bolted to a tree and included a swing arm. Covert said police also found several store receipts detailing the materials used to assemble the device.

Now, this guy goes to all this trouble and effort to build this thing to kill himself? That is most bizarre. And he saved his reciepts.

I guess he didn’t need them for a tax write-off. Sad and strange.

I have definitely not had enough coffee this morning.

    Well, that’s a sad thing.

One can’t help but wonder what drove a young man to such extremes. Who doesn’t just use a gun?

From the description it seems he built a device normally referred to as a Scottish Maiden.

A Guillotine with an arm that holds the blade.

I’ll give the poor dude an “A” for originality. He may be the first person to die by Guillotine since Hamida Djandoubi in 1977.

I’d love to build a catapult, but I don’t plan on using myself as ammo.

You have the right idea, Jay. Always use someone else as ammo.

The guillotine that he made was not even close to a scottish maiden. Furthermore, this was definitley a murder. I live nearby the shit hole shopping center and refuse to go, too much crime. Now we have beheadings… by the way don’t believe a word Dale Covert speaks, he is the laziest detective this city has ever seen. He been sued more than once and been demoted from his position for concerning himself with traffic duties while on duty as detective.

“The guillotine that he made was not even close to a scottish maiden.”

So, what was it close to? You’ve seen it I assume.
What makes you think it was murder and which criminal did it?
Do you think the Lazy Detective did it?
Did the criminal save the receipts so he could return the wood and such after the murder.
Did the Lazy Detective criminal Guillotine murderer send the victim to the store to by the materials himself?

    Inquiring minds want to know.
