Westboro Church Ordered To Pay Father Millions
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 31-10-2007
I’ve dealt with these folks personally. And good that they have to pay but it will still never be enough.
The church and three of its leaders — the Rev. Fred Phelps and his two daughters, Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebecca Phelps-Davis, 46 — were found liable for invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress.
This will be caught up in litigation for awhile. I’m sure the Phelps will appeal, but still, a jury made this decision.
And, the Phelps are all about suing folks so now they know what it feels like.
Karma is a bitch.

Stephen Colbert To Run As A Democrat
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 31-10-2007
He says it costs too much to run on the GOP ticket.
Funnyman Stephen Colbert’s presidential campaign is apparently no joke.
The host of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” will file papers late Wednesday or early Thursday to put his name on South Carolina’s Democratic primary ballot, a source familiar with the comedian’s strategy said.

Stephen Colbert, a South Carolina native, made two “campaign” stops in the Palmetto State last weekend.
The South Carolina native will not file papers as a Republican because the $35,000 required to get on the GOP ballot is apparently too high a threshold.
Bwahhahhaaaa.
Stephen Colbert is funny. Wouldn’t it be fun if he won. At least he has a sense of humor, not like some of the jokers running for president.

Bigfoot or Bear With Bad Skin Condition?
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 31-10-2007
Bigfoot or a bear with a bad skin condition?
How Groovy for a fine Halloween morning. I’m going with Bigfoot, dammit. I have to. I must!!
…the only thing certain about the critter photographed by a hunter’s camera is that some people have gotten the notion it could be a Sasquatch, or bigfoot. Others say it’s just a bear with a bad skin infection.Rick Jacobs says he got the pictures from a camera with an automatic trigger that he fastened to a tree in the Allegheny National Forest, about 115 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, hoping to photograph deer.
Yay!!!!! Still taking donations for the first ever Newscoma/Bigfoot Expedition!

Scary Scenes #15-Spiderwalk From The Exorcist
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 30-10-2007
This scene was cut from the original “Exorcist” movie. I can’t help but ask what the hell is Linda Blair’s character, Regan, is doing with her lips.
It’s all very menacing.

Scary Scenes #14-Night Of The Hunter
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 30-10-2007
This isn’t the scariest scene, in my opinion, from “Night of the Hunter” but it depicts some creepiness nonetheless.
Robert Mitchum plays a conman-psycho who has issues with sex in this film, the only one ever directed by actor Charles Laughton. Shot in a surreal fashion probably best suited for a children’s fantasy, it’s creepy. The scenes from Mitchum and Shelley Winters, who just wants to consummate her marriage, is painful to watch but I couldn’t find the eeriest clip, which has Winters sitting in a car at the bottom of a the river.
But this isn’t bad.

Watch this movie as soon as possible if you haven’t already.

Scary Scenes #13-The Day After
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 29-10-2007
When I was a kid, the movie “The Day After” scared the hell of of me. No, not because Steve Guttenberg was in it, but because no one knew that the bombs were coming.

I was a kid. It scared me.
A lot.
Incidentally, I know the special effects are cheesy. Didn’t matter.

Scary Scenes #12-Viggo Mortenson As The Devil
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 28-10-2007
Viggo Mortenson was the best SATAN ever in “The Prophecy” which wasn’t a bad movie but wasn’t great either.
But, Viggo, man, he rocked as the evil red one although he was red in this movie, yet again, I digress.
He was great in every scene.

Scary Scene #11 – Pet Semetary
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 28-10-2007
Squeegee Monkey, the bro-in-law, voted this one as very, very freaked out.
He especially doesn’t like it when cute kid, Gage, asks for folks to come out and “play with him.”
This clip is not for the squeamish of friends of Herman Munster.
