An Odd Tale With Harlan Ellison, Josh Olson and A Very Sad Tale Of The Internet
This is a bizarre tale. As a fan of Harlan Ellison, I had to check it out:
I called Harlan. He understands people like no one you’ve ever met. We were at dinner once, and he started chatting with two biker dudes at the table next to us for a couple minutes. He asked one guy, “How long have you played chess?” The guy was stunned. Harlan had deduced from the way the guy carried himself in idle banter that he was a chess player. I’m pretty good at figuring out what makes people tick — you have to be to be a decent writer — but Harlan knows. He thought my plan was pretty solid, but offered one variant on it that was brilliant, and completely out of left field.
From Boing Boing.
Now, if you read this from LA Weekly, it is more than Harlan Ellison. It’s a bizarre tale from screenwriter Josh Olson who wrote “The History of Violence” and it’s the oddest damn thing I’ve read in awhile. Stick with it, it’s odd and strange and very weird about the internet and very sad, weird people who go so damn far and there is an element that they don’t care how far they go.
Jeez.
And wow. More than freaky.

Thanks for linking to that, Coma. Ended up posting my own thoughts, but suffice it to say here, while my own thoughts on the whole Good/Evil thing in this world are muddy, I do believe strongly that there is very real Evil in this shades of gray world we inhabit, and in this case, it lives in the heart of that predatory woman.
Tommy, this was the oddest thing I’ve read in awhile.
And, yes, man, what a terrible thing this woman did. Very predatory and, I think, very frightening.
Wow, that was bizarre. Audrey was very fortunate to have a strong support group. Her incident makes me leery of the blogosphere because there are EVIL people in this world and that is the very reason I never go into chat rooms. Then again I am not lonely, looking for love, or a sense of purpose. Although I believe I am a good judge of character, I still pray that I do not run across a psychotic in cyberspace and the wisdom to recognize it if I do.
Thanks for reminding me there are serious threats in cyberspace.
Unbelievable. Almost.
Great story.
Please correct yourselves above.
Josh Olson’s name is spelled O L S O not e N.
Yes sir. And done.
