Westboro Church Ordered To Pay Father Millions
I’ve dealt with these folks personally. And good that they have to pay but it will still never be enough.
The church and three of its leaders — the Rev. Fred Phelps and his two daughters, Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebecca Phelps-Davis, 46 — were found liable for invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress.
This will be caught up in litigation for awhile. I’m sure the Phelps will appeal, but still, a jury made this decision.
And, the Phelps are all about suing folks so now they know what it feels like.

All people do nowadays is sue for money, and the only ones that benefit are the lawyers. 11 million? you might as well burn down all of their churches until kingdom come.
I understand the suing but 11 million? thats like when my father (a dentist) was sued for 2 million because he fixed all of a lady’s teeth. and she couldn’t speak english.

this vile family couldnt earn 11 million dollars in a million generations of their filthy clan. but it will inconvenience and annoy them for years to come, and THAT is a beautiful thing!
the sad thing is that this crap keeps polluting the planet with their little craplets! kids are the key in fighting this kind of fear-based hatred; it’s got to be stopped somehow! although with this garbage i’m sure they homeschool their spawn, keeping them in an insular world of ugliness and hatred. where’s DCS when you need them?!?!

I agree that Karma is a bitch. Although this is mostly a straw victory for the family, perhaps they can talk to the Goldman family about how to best track down and aquire all of the Phelps’ assets for as long as it takes. Using the description of “church” for these people is a very long stretch, but I wonder how many other “churches” will start worrying about protecting their substantial assets from similar litigation fallout for their actions.
