Best, And Worst, Christmas Songs
Spinner has a list of the worst Christmas songs. Although I agree on some of them (Daddy Please Don’t Get Drunk For Christmas makes me shriek) they didn’t get my top two most blech Christmas fare:
1. Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (AAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHH.)
2. The Little Drummer Boy (which creeps me out so much I can’t even tell you.)
They also have a top best Christmas song list:
Merry Christmas from the Family by Robert Earl Keene wasn’t on that one? For shame, but I did like their No. 1 pick as well.

WOOT! How can you not sing to the top of your voice “a booox of Tampons, Some Marlboro Lights.”
H/T to Pop Candy.
I mean, really.
Slartibartfast and I love that one. (Waves at Slarti!)

I like the version of “Little Drummer Boy” by Bing Crosby & David Bowie, that is the only version I like.
I think it was that stop motion show that used to be on television that just freaked me out.
I can deal with Bowie/Crosby but I just can’t get past that scary kid with the big eyes.
I’m afraid now just thinking about it.
I’m slightly disappointed there’s not a Rat Pack song on either list.
Now seriously. I can’t help it, but I just LOVE Grandma Got Run Over etc. I’ve found it’s best to enjoy it with a 7 or 8 year old, who will really appreciate the humor.
Laura, it was a hit when I was a disc jockey.
Oh, it made me suicidal. But I haven’t thought it would be a laff riot to a kid.
But still, my head.
That song should be entitled
“Christmas with the SQ Family”
They pegged my family gatherings.
I just love me some Robert Earl Keene!

Doug loves Dan Fogelberg’s “Same Old Lang Syne” but I think it’s beyond horrible.
my worst christmas song list wouldn’t be complete without the hideous
“Christmas Shoes.” ack.
