And to answer the rest of your questions, yes, I have seen an actual fainting goat.

    Dude, I friggin see fainting goats all the time…there’re a gazillion of the things here in L’burg. Don’t forget we have a goat festival every fall.

    one of my favorite memories — being on a friend’s farm where there were fainting goats. funniest of all though, was a goat that was only HALF fainting goat. yep, when surprised or excited, the back half of the critter would totally go into muscle lock and the goat would turn and stare in horror at it’s hindquarters. true story.

    This seems like a quality that would have been bred away fairly quickly by natural selection in the wild. Any animal that locks up while being chased would surely be called food in the animal kingdom.
