I Want My MTV
Back in the day when MTV helped form my generation and they actually played music videos, I loved the VJ’s. I was a teenager and I felt very connected through music with others. Back then, it felt relevant and edgy.
Man, I loved JJ Jackson.
So, it’s weird to see these interviews with Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, Nina Blackwood and Martha Quinn on Sirius.
Reliving the youth. Well no, I just miss music on MTV because isn’t that what it’s supposed to be.
Music?

I am convinced that this is was probably the first “back in my day” meme our generation embraced. I have yet to meet a person from, say 38-45 who doesn’t mention that MTV stopped being cool when it dropped music. I’m sure to the young, we all sound the same – but MTV was a defining and transforming part of our consciousness.
And I still have a thing for Martha Quinn.
Matt Pinfield. I miss Matt Pinfield, and 120 minutes. And Slarti, I’m still in my 20s, and I remember music on MTV. It even lasted, to some extent, into my high school years.
Did someone say Martha Quinn? mmmm…Martha Quinn.
I love the Big 80s on SIRIUS. All of those original VJs (except JJ, of course) are now DJs there. They have great stories to tell to go with the music.
LeBlanc, Martha has her own show and a website/podcast to go with it:
