After reading some of these responses I’m shocked! They really have patience. I come from a big family myself – not that large. Some of you are saying that she should have her tubes tied and everything. I think as long as they can afford to raise them and support them, Its their choice. I give her credit for that!! Its crazy at the same time. But you can tell they love children. I have only one myself and i do want more. You got to think about how they care for the children clothing, food, education etc. They can care for them. Think about all the girls not married having all these babies, and living off the government. When my husband was in the Military there were couples that have 5-6 kids. And could hardly take care of them ( because the pay wasnt that great). So basically if they can care for all of them, who cares if she has 25. Its her choice. Years ago Our great great great grandparents had lots of children. My mothers Grandmother have 11 kids. ITS THEIR CHOICE!! ! God bless the Duggars!!

The only reason these people are being celebrated for having all these kids is because they’re white conservatives. if they were black or Mexican and sending their kids to public school the same white conservatives would be screaming about welfare queens and illegal immigrants stealing their tax dollars.

Reproducing one’s self is so fundamental that from a biological point of view, and being alive on this earth is at least partially biological, it is a part of the very meaing of life. So, as such, reproduction should be as fundamental a right as breathing. However in a world that is so overpopulated we risk calamity by running out of a nonrenewable resource such as fossil fuel, becuase we now need it to make enough food for our bloated numbers, any one who more then reproduces themselvs, i.e. has more then two children, is being selfish and piglike to the piont where evil is a fair word. And there is more to it then just the obvious Malthusian dangers; Jesus, Muhammend, and hell even John Gault, needed some open wilderness to escape to for spiritual sustanence.
If everyone on the planet were even a fraction as selfish as the Duggers and has four children per couple, with a generation being 25 years, then we would go from 7 billion currently, to 14 billion, to 28 billion, to 56 billion, to 112 billion in a hundred years.
For a couple to have 18 children is monstrous beyond description, and it shows how insane our society is that they are being celebrated rather then called on it.

I think these are people that have no concept of reality. They have many children …So what? Is is hard to get pregnant and have “offspring?”

They are odd people.
I watched the show a few times…and then I simply had to put it on my ignore.
Do not kiss? when engaged.??? They might want to live in the 12th century.
Actually I looked at them all…and there was something NOT RIGHT,
just phony. Get $ from TV…something just not right.
If you want 18 kids or 100 kids…fine…don’t do “reality TV”.
It just seems creepy to me.

We have all been exposed to the essays and campaigns about global warming. The biggest problem is not that person who burns more fuel or wastes more energy than anybody else. The problem comes from the fact that the population of the earth has doubled every twenty years for the last half-century. The Duggars want to be praised for having eighteen children? Mother of the year?

Having eighteen children is also not very safe for the mother. There is a reason why hospitals have refused to accept the risk of her double-digit deliveries. People are interested because it is like a circus show, but nobody seems to really consider what it means for one couple to have eighteen children.

dont think that family that BIRTHED 18 kids is “heroic” or laudable. Puppies have litters that big — people SHOUDNT.
They have the RIGHT to breed that much — but it is not “heroic” or special. It is like going to a buffet and eating all the food — or demanding all the presents under the christmas tree for yourself — (or all the tax breaks, or more cars on the road, or more carbon footprints. ) SOMETIMES Less is More. I AM NOT IMPRESSED– this is more about ego, blind faith (blind faith is not faith at all — but a combination of NOSTALGIA and ADDICTION). If they had BIRTHED 9 and ADOPTED 9 too — NOw THAT wouuld be laudbable!!!! These parents are “dead behing the eyes” — does not seem “Godly” to me…. seems IRRRESPONSIBLE and SELFISH — If they are really to be celebrated — they should have ADOPTED to ease to world’s pain — not make a bunch of carbon footprints in an already overpopulated world. 100,000 dead in Myanmar, thousands dead in Iraq, COUNTLESS children who are NOT adopted — and these people just cant stop BREEDING like animals!!!!. They have the RGIHT to do it — but it is not RIGHT — nor newsworthy. YUCK!!!! Egotism and selfishness and “look at me ism”. — ADOPT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO HELP!!!!
