Jack’s Pool Hall In Paris

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Newscoma | Posted on 11-05-2008

It looks like a juke joint and I would say it probably is. But sometimes you find wonderful things in places you least expect it.

The mural in the back of this little dive off the court square in Paris holds one of the most fascinating murals I’ve ever seen.

Squirrel Queen and I were more than charmed not only by this portion of the mural, because that is Jack who opened the place in 1946 (I think.)

And the people there were absolutely some of the most friendly folks I’ve ever met.

Cuddle Parties

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Newscoma | Posted on 11-05-2008

Huh?

A Cuddle Party may look like a pajama party for grown-ups. It’s fun but there are rules. The number one rule, pajamas stay on the whole time. This is a non-sexual event.

Okay, now that we have that out of the way you may ask yourself, what’s a cuddle party?

“This is a way of framing touch in a positive way,” says cuddle party facilitator Edie Weinstein-Moser.

Edie says the parties which are held around the country and in our area are meant to help people achieve better intimacy, and communication. And it allows people to express themselves in a comfortable and safe environment.

There’s snuggling, nuzzling and even spooning. But not everyone’s ready for a group hug right away since you may not know everyone. So to get comfortable there are a few steps to start with.

No. The answer is no. I’m a huggy person but no. Hell, I hated sleep overs when I was in 5th grade. I can’t imagine doing this at 42.

Let me reiterate. No.

Gone Country Demolition Derby

SQ, our friend Trudy and I went to the Gone Country Demolition Derby last night. I have never been to a demolition derby. It was, in a word, different.

I don’t think you can tell but it was raining like hell.

We got muddy.

With that said, I had a great time. I really want to drive one of those cars and bang that crap out of someone else’s car. I’m channeling my inner redneck.

James Hart In His Sandwich Board

Posted by newscoma | Posted in Newscoma | Posted on 11-05-2008

I’ve written about Hart before. Hart has run against John Tanner in the last two elections in District 8.

He makes me nuts . With that said, I was in Paris yesterday and, if you didn’t know, Hart marches around the Henry County Courthouse in a sandwich board. I shot a couple of photos so you could see what he does.

It says Impeach Saddam Bush.

I don’t know who the other guy is but it seemed to me he was doing his best to get away from Hart.

Happy Birthday Smiley And Bear

I think this image will apply well to both Bear and Smiley although there is a bit of an age difference between them.

It covers both generations in my odd sad world. And it’s Homer approved who knows both of them.
