Gannett To Cut 1,000 Jobs

Dang.

SAN FRANCISCO — Gannett Co. will cut 1,000 newspaper jobs, or about 3% of that division’s workforce, the company said Thursday. Employees affected by layoffs will be notified by the end of the month.

I’ve got to wrap my head around this one.

  3. Sign of the times. Big lumbering corporate print media is dead. Small independent local media is thriving.

    I guess no one wants to pay to read the same AP wire stories they can get online for free. No one could have anticipated ….

    It amazes me that we keep preaching this, So. Beale, yet people aren’t getting it.
    News is changing and we are seeing the casualties daily.
