Weird Gravestone

I saw this in Fulton on Saturday:

Here’s the other side:

And here’s the bottom:

I’ve been trying to figure out who these people are. It’s an amazing tombstone and you can tell it has a history, but I have nothing.

Any idea?

It’s a gravestone for Mr. Henry Berger (whose professional name as actor, director, etc was “David Brooks”), Mrs. Grace Cavender Berger (who was married to “David Brooks” for 39 years), and Alice Cavender Cooper (who was the big sister of Grace). Since Grace survived both Henry and Alice, I assume it was she who made this wonderful heartfelt commemoration. It’s sad that there’s no room on the stone to extol her own accomplishments — maybe she’ll have a ground stone too.

This tombstone is so beautiful I really couldn’t capture it all. The only David Brooks I could find was apparently in Finnegan’s Rainbow and I can’t help but wonder if it’s the same person because of the yellow arch.

It was sitting in the middle of gray gravestones.

    Just beautiful.

On the IMDb website there is a David Brooks XIII with the same date of birth and death…it only shows 2 acting jobs 1 in ‘44 and 1 in ‘50, apparently on TV. Here’s that link.

apparently one of them went to school with my late Granddaddy, Cecil Cruce, waiting on details from my great-uncle, who still lives in Fulton…mom wants to know which cemetery this was in, you have stirred up the fulton/cayce-ite in her! lol! (although i do have to admit, i loved running the tracks in cayce by my (other) great-uncle’s store in cayce growing up…ahhh youth)

  5. That’s so unusual. Was the arch part made of glass?

I think so. It was almost like a stained glass structure.
