Low Expectations Is Old Political Stunt

Sarah Palin is not made of china. Joe Biden, and yes he’s the gaffe king, is not made of china either for that matter.

I’m going to get a bit feminist on you right now. Treat Palin and Biden the same. If softballs are lobbed tonight, then I’m going to be one peed-off woman.  The debate about this alone is infuriating because I keep reading how Biden shouldn’t “bully” Palin.

Biden and Palin just need to debate. The end.

She’s a growed up woman, as my sister Homer would say. Treat her as a vice-presidential pick and move on with it. She deserves to be treated as a candidate. To say that Biden doesn’t need to go on the offensive is absolutely ridiculous. Biden has as much, if not more, to lose as well.

I have no idea why I watch the news as my blood pressure just rises and rises.

Why am I writing this? I run a business with several employees. I have to put on my big-girl panties everyday and deal with the realities that people depend on me to make good, solid decisions. It has nothing to do with the fact that I’m a woman. I manage a business which has no gender involved when it comes to day-to-day operations. My bi-monthly check doesn’t say “WOMAN” on it.

So that ticks me off that this is being talked about. I wonder what time tomorrow the media will tell us which designer’s clothes she wore. Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin both, and I say both, have done a lot for women in having to deal with so much mainstream media crap.

On the other hand, the die is cast. Democrats will claim Biden the winner. Republicans will claim Palin the winner and the debate isn’t for another 11 hours.

I’m watching the newsers this morning and they are talking about how both candidates have “lowered expectations” regarding this debate.

Guys, don’t buy it. This is an old political trick that needs to be retired effective now. What kind of BS is this?

The American people deserve a debate and not a public relations stunt.

Just call me Cranky McComa.

I hate the liberal left wing treehugger media.

I surfed into a Cspan repeat of the Bush 1 / Farraro debate from the 80s. She held her own pretty well from the little I watched.

She wasn’t hot though. Even drunk I doubt I’d hit it.

Also it’d be cool if, when they went to shake hands, Biden licked her face. In my brain this looks very funny.

i actually saw a report about how voting women feel about her hair, whether she should continue the up-do or allow her locks to fall.

how’s that for discussing the issues.

    dang

Not everybody will look at this as grownups (and the numbers of people who aren’t grownups but do vote is too high) and if Joe starts out going after Sarah, I think he’ll be seen as abusive and patronizing and condescending by people who can’t spell any of those words (*checks spelling*).

Yeah, she’s running with the big dogs and ought to be able to take it. Truth is, she can’t, and according to the Rove Doctrine, this thus presents an opportunity to paint the opponents as bad, bad, evil, women haters.

I find that a cold beer (or 3) helps this ailment – accompanied by cigarette.

I had a similar conversation last night with a person in my same professional field who remains undecided like myself. We talked about Palin and the debate and I made a similar remark that if women want a true level playing field, they have to be able to take the same questions as men and not play the “he’s picking on me card” — and the same goes for the media.

I don’t give a damn about a hairstyle or whether Gucci or Chanel did the suit. Stick to the issues… of course, neither of them believes a word they’re saying, they’re fat cats and they don’t have the same problems as you and I. As long as that’s the case, we’re screwed.

Beth, you speaketh the truth, my cyber friend.

‘Coma, you continue to be the wisest of the wise. (But you’re so modest about it. Hee.)

I was just talking with a colleague — of a different political persuasion, mind you — who says the same thing we’re saying: TALK ABOUT HOW TO HELP US. STOP THE IDIOCY AND GIVE US SOLUTIONS.

We both really want to see Palin get up there and whip off the Caribou Barbie mask and say, “HA we faked y’all OUT, I am so SMART SRSLY” and then th’ow down a fantabulous hard-hitting discussion with Biden, so on-point and wonderful and thought-provoking that Gwen Ifill might have to lie down. Because we want to see a woman in this position be the best woman the party can provide to lead the country.

Sadly, though, I have a gut feeling that the Gub’nor will get up there and try to twinkle her way through and when Biden calls her on it, the hue and cry of “stop picking on her you’re MEAN” will be heard across the land. Because she DOES need to be called on her lack of concrete answers, but people will still blame Biden for doing it. People even criticized the Gang of Boys for “ganging up” on Hillary during the Dem debates, if you recall, and that’s one woman who doesn’t need anybody to call down her opponents.

It’s a no-win for all of us. And I just don’t know how to fix it.

I stand by my prediction that he’s going to slaughter her, but he’s got to be excessively careful with his wording, lest we have to watch the debate over lipstick play out on the MSM morning shows for the next week. Of course, I’m sure he’s been well-coached on this point.

I think he can get up there and play it cool and give her just enough rope to hang herself, and that will be that.

I guess I want to see a good debate, but my vindictive side wants this to turn into a huge joke for her.
