You know what I like about Bob Schieffer? I like him because I have some friends who have a great band in DC called Honky Tonk Confidential, and he knows one of them (her day job is at CBS) and he did a song with them on their most recent album and has even does a couple of shows with them. How cool is that?

I think McCain started out better in the first 30 minutes than he has in the past two but when he got angry, it disintegrated immediately because his body language betrayed him. That’s when it got interesting.

As for the teachers thing, well, I don’t get that at all.

I keep hearing everyone saying McCain did better in this debate, but honestly I couldn’t get past his sighs and grimaces and sneers. Why did he do better? Did he answer more questions? Lie less? I’m not being an asshole: I really don’t understand.

Also: WTF was up with him defending the people at his rallies that yell “Kill him!” or “Terrorist!” about Obama? And is he serious that soldiers should be able to come straight out of service and become teachers without having to get certified or accredited? I’m all for supporting the troops, but just because you fought in a war does not mean you’re qualified to teach the nation’s children. Jesus, don’t we already have enough shitty, I-couldn’t-get-another-job-and-I-thought-this-would-be-easy teachers?

I didn’t watch much of the debate last night. Our candidates are both a little (ok, a lot) on the bitchy side. I seriously thought at one point we might have some man-slapping going on. When it didn’t happen I turned it off. That being said I’m going to vote today because I’ll be traveling back home from Florida. My guess is the election will be half over by the time we get back.
