Maybe she’s only taking a bit at a time in the hopes that when she returns to the food bowl, that dry crunchy stuff will have magically transformed into steak and cheese.

My dog does the same thing. She used to run from the kitchen to the living room, where she could then eat the kibble on the carpet — back and forth, back and forth, until the meal was finished. Now, she has a small rug under her dishes (oh, no! she’s not spoiled!), so she no longer spreads her breakfast throughout the house.
