Cherry Jones
This is a press release but I adore Cherry Jones and she does so much good for her hometown of Paris.
U.S. President from “24” Hosts Fundraiser in Paris, Tennessee
(Paris, TN) What U.S. president drives a hybrid, lives in a 600 square foot home and is holding a town hall meeting and fundraiser in Paris, TN? The answer is President Allison Taylor (a.k.a. Cherry Jones) from the hit TV drama “24”. Event tickets go on sale Saturday, November 1.
Jones, a Henry County native will visit Paris on Saturday, April 18, 2009 for four back-to-back fundraising events, all keyed around “24” which airs on the FOX network in January. “This will be a full day of activities for fans of ‘24’ or for those who are curious about working in television,” said Jones.
Four separate events will take place that day: a photo op, an auction, a town hall meeting and an after party. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be divided among five local charities: Lee Academy for the Arts, Paris-Henry County Arts Council, Paris-Henry County Heritage Center, Downtown Paris Association and Friends of the W.G. Rhea Library. Tickets for the town hall meeting and the after party go on sale at Jack Jones Flowers and Gifts in Downtown Paris on Saturday, November 1, 2008. Tickets must be paid for in cash.
The events that take place on Saturday, April 18, 2009 include:
Photo-Op with President Allison Taylor – Get your cameras ready for this opportunity to have your photo snapped with a sitting president. Pricing, location and time are to be announced.
Silent Auction of “24” memorabilia – Jones has gathered scripts, gun shells, autographs and other items of interest from the set of “24”. Many are one-of-a-kind. Location and time are to be announced.
A Town Hall Meeting with President Allison Taylor – A limited number of tickets are available for this event which takes place at the Krider Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $20 for reserved seats. The event, which celebrates the Krider’s Ten Year Anniversary will feature an on-stage interview with Jones followed by questions from audience members.
The ‘24’ After Party – Visit with Jones and fans of the show and during this nightcap event at Lee Academy for the Arts immediately after the Town Hall Meeting (around 9:30 p.m.). Tickets are $50 for this event, which is limited to 100 guests.

A two-time Tony Award Winner (The Heiress and Doubt), Jones has spent her share of hours on theatre and movie sets, but television was “fairly unfamiliar territory,” she said. “Working on ‘24’ has been a wonderful experience. It’s a well-crafted show with actors, directors, writers and crewmembers who are disciplined, yet kind. They are so inclusive; I immediately felt right at home on the set.”
The fundraiser is sponsored by PARIS! magazine, WENK/WTPR and KF/KQ radio stations, West Tennessee Printing and the Krider Performing Arts Center. “Because anticipation is half the pleasure, tickets are available early,” said PARIS! Editor Susan Jones. “They make real one-of-a-kind gifts.” Sponsors anticipate raising more than $10,000 for the non-profit organizations.
A kick off to the April 18, 2009 event is slated at Leach’s Music on Sunday, November 23 when a 2-hour movie airs as a prequel to the new season, according to Mike Key of Leach’s. The prequel, 24: REDEMPTION stars Emmy Award winner Kiefer Sutherland along with new cast members Jones and Academy Award-winner Jon Voight. To see a trailer, log on www.fox.com/24.

I’ll be there.

She’s on 24 now? That might almost get me watching. I used to see her a bunch in shows in NYC.
