Annoying Autobiographical Pause #908
Posted by newscoma | Posted in Tennessee | Posted on 21-11-2008
After spending much of yesterday afternoon vomiting into trash cans on I-40, it can put life into perspective. It appears most of the house had this nasty bug as well. The entire commune laid about like dead lemmings that had jumped off a cliff.
First of all, I want you to know when I finally got home dreaming feverishly of my beloved recliner with needy hunger for comfort, Mabel had left me a message.
She had torn up everything she could find. The place was orange alert and I’ve never seen such a mess in my life. Yes, I have two other dogs and a stepdog, but I knew it was her because she hid under the bed and cried.
I was thinking that sometimes we act out when we don’t understand. Mabel really is a life coach, you know. As I laid feverishly about the house last night watching a kick-ass episode of Survivor and then rolling on into The Office and 30 Rock, she laid on top of me. Even when it was time for her late night treat, she wouldn’t leave.
She was, however, afraid I would leave her.
I look for parables in life. I look for reasons to believe in something greater than the obvious. I fail many times and there are moments I wonder if I’m delving into waters that I will never understand. I look for gratitude when there is anger. I look for intangible things that are only meaningful to me.
So today’s autobiographical pause is about healing and love. It’s about unconditional acceptance. It’s about how during dark times, there is light.
Sometimes the blogosphere is a cynical place and I don’t want to contribute to that although sometimes I get my head stuck in the mud with everyone else.
With that said, as I sit here this morning, mindless and recovering from the Great I-40 Debacle, I will criticize Billy Mays, as he’s pretty much on television nonstop. And I will show you this picture because it amused us yesterday on Twitter, because it’s all I have this morning.

Best Survivor episode ever!
