I drank the Twilight Koolaid last summer - read all of the books multiple times so far. But I'm not sort of not looking forward to seeing the moving because I know it won't be the same. Quandry. Just like Harry Potter.

I wish I had HBO but I'm a marathon watcher so I'm going to get it on DVD.
I love me some vampires too. Sunnydale High is very much missed.
Killa told me I have to read Twilight and I have no choice. I guess I'm in. :)

you know i been jonesing bad for vamp action ever since Buffy departed. i was skeptical of True Blood, but i think it's absolutely great. from the first episode on, i was most impressed. sunday is the season finale and they've started work on season 2 to start next summer.
after watching a few episodes, i got some sample chapters of the book and again was impressed - the story is there and they have captured it well. and boy howdy does it have the hot monkey sex!!
perhaps after a season or two passes i'll pick up the books, but i don't want to ruin the viewing experience - the surprises keep rolling out.
the buzz on Twilight is HUGE! shows the power of the teenage girl dollar, i guess.
i've been working on a vamp post for the weekend, and jeepers i have heaps to say, so it will probably not be posted til sunday.
once i started seriously questioning my lifelong love of vamps, well, maybe i need serious therapy is my conclusion.
for me, the real draw is the vamp's ability to control life and death and bend it to their will rather than live at the whim of a normal life.
one thing most fun in True Blood is the backstory of how they have 'come out' of the coffin and are demanding rights as Americans. great stuff for these times.
as a man, the idea of attending Twilight with heaps of squeally young ladies is a dangerous thing. but to be honest, that really seems the best way to experience the movie. but given my age, i'll wait and avoid the pervy stereotypes likely to attend my being in the opening weekend audience.
dang, 'Coma, i so loves some vamp stories.

I read an earlier Slate review that said you would need to see it with a theater full of teen age girls just to get the giddy, hormonal, unrequited feel for it. That sounded pretty accurate to me.

With Anne Rice, everyone pretty much had to imagine the story because it took so long to make any movies (Tom Cruise as Lestat? fail) but Twilight is getting a pretty fast turnaround. A lot of people were so nervous about the gay threads running throughout that it overwhelmed the Gothic richness of the stories. But I still love them.

I just got the 1st two books as a present this week, so I'll read them and see. I'm a little jaded about Vamps after Anne Rice, L.A. Banks and my favorite Undead and UnWed series(I do love the snark and the shoes).

Best of all was this week's SouthPark episode in which the true Goth kids were really pissed off by all of the preppy, popular kids suddenly turning into pseudo Vamp kids courtesy of this movie and Hot Topic. I had to agree.

That's what I was kind of thinking. It's going to have to be a rental unless I take the niece to it.

You can have my ticket to see it tonight with two 12-y-o's. The trailers for it scream "made for television" even though I think the Sci-Fi channel could have done a better job.
