How’s That Going?

I missed this with all apologies to Lee as I was working on NewsTechZilla, but the snark is just about perfect.

Post-election, as Barack Obama has been selecting his cabinet, the rest of the entire Democratic party had only two responsibilities of importance. One was to fill Obama’s vacated Senate seat in Illinois, the other was Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat in New York.

How’s that going?

I’m a leftie but I have to say, that’s just about right.

I gotta call bullshit. (comment edited by newscoma) but lets quit buying into disingenous arguments and comparisons offered up by extreme partisans…

It’s the Illinois Governor’s job to fill Obama’s seat. The problem is obvious, the solution isn’t. Same thing with Clinton’s seat….different, I know, but pre-inauguration machinations are always sticky, and whats the rush?

It isn’t quite on par with a Party that sat on its hands while a city drowned, is it? They stay on offense for a reason, Coma.

Mack, play nice. I’m not digging Harry Reid right now and I have the right to say it.
Lee made a good point and there is nothing wrong with spotlighting it. You know I’m a good democrat, but I’m not going to say everything they do or say is always right.
If you disagree, that’s fine. I am wondering why the national democrats have had two years and we still haven’t seen a lot of action from them, including my local folks.
I agree, it is the Illinois problem on filling Obama’s seat, but did you see the circus earlier this week. I thought Reid didn’t diffuse it very well and that’s part of his job in leadership.
You can call BS and throw stuff around all you want, but we are friends, so please remember that.
Also, it’s not on the par of New Orleans. That’s a totally different subject.
With that said, I’ve been around politics as much as you have and I think we all are of value with our opinions.

Thats my point, Coma. Its NOT on par with new Orleans. My problem with Lee is that he ALWAYS has something snarky to say about Dems or Obama in particular. I think holding our reps accountable is an important part of being a citizen…but lets not get bogged down with process problems.

  4. Waffling on deciding whether someone named Kennedy should get a seat in Washington is hardly comparable to leaving bodies floating in the steet.
I think we all want this term to be progressive, not stammering and standing in place breaking their arms while they pat themselves on the back.
Also, I don’t consider Lee an “extreme partisan.”

  5. The accountability starts now.

  6. Mack says:

Then you haven’t read him enough, SQ. And you guys keep making my point for me. ITS NOT COMPARABLE. Right. Lets make sure when we fire at our own, its for something besides a process issue.

  7. newscoma says:

And, we agree to disagree. :)
Let’s all have a toast to only ten more days of Bush and call it a day. ;)

Although this discussion may have been put to bed – as a frequent critic of my own party, I think it’s important that we keep our own house in check. If the criticism is fair, it’s good for the party and good for us as individuals.

  9. Lee says:

If you follow the link, you will see that I make a pretty sharp jab concerning current Republican actions in the same post.

Am I a partisan? Yeah, a bit. Whatever. Let he who is without sin…

But if you want to play the blame game Mack, how many kids died screaming, burning alive at Waco, because Janet Reno wanted to show the world how big her dick was?

  10. Lee says:

Besides that, thanks Newsy and SQ.

Since I don’t have a dog in the NFL fight, I’ll root on your Titans. I remember watching that classic Super Bowl between your team and the Rams in the basement of the fraternity house with 30 other guys, all yelling as we wondered if the receiver was going to get to the endzone or not on the final play…

Helluva game, and it’s good that Fisher and the boys may get a another shot at it this year.
