Dumber Than A Bag Of Hair Day
Yesterday was “Dumber Than A Bag Of Hair” Day.
Let me explain in an ambiguous way as the locals are reading me and I most likely will have an editorial about it in our next newspaper for the day job.
If, let’s say, you are an established institution with hard working employees who actually have a clue on how to handle something, let them handle it. You hired them because of their skill, their passion and their ability to problem solve. You depend on them already. If a problem arises, and as they are on the front lines, let them lead the battle.
One thing I would advise is not sitting on your duff all day and then putting out one of the lamest statements ever when everyone knows what’s really going on after people had literally been waiting for seven hours. A statement that everyone knew was horse doody.
In this day and age of constant communication, the truth flies a lot better than spin. No, this is not a political statement as it wasn’t a political situation. This is more than that.
It’s about transparency. It’s about that sometimes you have to take the bad with the good. One major problem with public relations is that media outlets are usually very accommodating when dealing with both sides of the aisle. For every Habitat For Humanity house story that graces any media outlet, there is also a story that might not be as positive and show the dark side of something as was the case yesterday. You need to have a business/marketing plan to deal with both.
It’s like a marriage. For Better and Worse, in Sickness and in Health.
I became frustrated yesterday because the truth was known and was handled properly initially. Then the suits got involved (not my business, another one, it was a story) and it became apparent that the spin had begun, so basically everyone was treated like they had just been given a lobotomy and had to be talked to very slowly. This was utterly amazing. The truth was known, but the suits at the business didn’t let the truth be told.
And everyone knew it.
Sometimes the suits don’t know and should depend on the very people they hired, because they might know a little bit more than you think they do.
And they will call BS too.
Just saying. Let’s hope today is not “The Dude In The Suit Is Filled With Liquid Crap” Day.
I have a feeling it will be, but let’s hope that people have a little bit more common sense than they did yesterday.

So true. The higher one gets up the ladder, the lack of oxygen is apparent and suffocates their brain cells. Suits filled with crap need to take a dump.
Yes, indeed, my friend. I’m having T-Shirts made about this momentous occasion except instead of the person in question being named, it will say “Ask me for details.”
Jeez.
Spin as standard operating procedure is indeed dumb as a bag of hair.
Of course, it was also Beautiful New ChezBez/Paige Baby Day too. (Sorry I didn’t mention that.)
