Things You May Or May Not Know

It’s navel-gazing paloosa over here at Newscoma, so let’s just blog for the sheer hell of it.

Things you may or may not know about yours truly:

  1. I do not like tacos because they stab my gums.
  2. I believe that dogs have souls.
  3. The word “Bloated” makes me laugh. When you combine it with “Whitey” it also makes me laugh.
  4. I dated a guy when I was 17 years old who was a stripper. I lived in Montreal. I did not know he was a stripper until my friends brought me to the club. It was an all nude club. I have to tell you I was more than shocked. He was Greek-Canadian. I was also very naive. We went on only one more date after that. It was him more than me who had a problem with it. I told my mother and she actually laughed. This explains why I’m a middle-aged hippie. (How many women do you know who have had this happen to them?)
  5. I was sent an email earlier this week that said every time you see a gray hair, be grateful you haven’t lost your hair to chemo. I thought that was very telling and very brilliant.
  6. I’m meeting Ward Cammack on Thursday. What do you want me to ask him?
  7. Someone shared with me yesterday some thoughts on his father. I enjoy moments like that.
  8. I wonder if grown ups can feel like orphans at times.
  9. I make mistakes.
  10. I miss the old Nashville is Talking community feel of the blogosphere.
  11. I like Christian Grantham’s morning Internet show. He’s funny and you should watch his show as well.
  12. I love the Gorillaz, John Coltrane and Willie Nelson. I also like Ralph Stanley. And I love my IShuffle because it gives my life background music of my own making.
  13. I want a new template.
  14. My first grown up love was a cello player. It lasted little more than a week, but I still think about it.
  15. I have never been fishing.

Ahh, the days of navel gazing on the blogs, how I miss you sometimes.

    5. You sent that to me on FB, and I’m not sure I thanked you–I REALLY needed that this week, and I sure did appreciate it.

    10. I really do, too. I’d only just gotten aboard when the whole thing collapsed. Oy. I don’t like the implications of that.

    12. And this is why we love you. Among many, many other things.

For sure. I lost my dad when I was 25 and my mom when I was 30 and spent the better part of my thirties grieving those losses and feeling like an orphan.

  11. Amber says:

Aw, that was lovely, Newsy. Thank you.

  12. captainkona says:

    1) That’s why they invented Burritos, silly.

Who the hell is Ward Carmack? Ask him that for me.

  14. Lynnster says:

    What about soft tacos?

  15. jim voorhies says:

Soft tacos? In Hoots? They’re lucky to have hard ones and they only get those after trudging several miles in the snow, uphill all the way.

  16. newscoma says:

Ironically, we have four Mexican restaurants in Hoots. But, alas, no sushi except for the ham ones which seriously make me vomity.

I do like enchiladas though. :)

  17. Dogs not only have souls. They have soul.

Not interested in any so-called heaven that won’t admit dogs…
