Wild Child – Feral Children

I honestly have no words for this. But for some reason, it gives me the willies.
There was a special on television of a series that won a Bafta awards nomination on feral children.

Homer, I apologize ahead of time but it gives me a huge case of the wiggums. This is the story of Oxana Malaya.

This world is a big place. I wish Oxana well.

Why oh why would you put this up. I didn’t watch it last night cause you said it would give me nightmares and you are right. It really got under my skin. When she barks at the camera it was odd…..I can’t talk about it anymore…..stop making me uncomfortable.

I don’t get it. I’ve read about feral children for years, but why would a human always revert to specifically dog-like behavior just because he/she is left in the wild. Why not chimp behavior or hell, chicken behavior? Seems suspect to me, like play-acting combined with mental illness.

The link to this girl says there is a heightened state of mental illness. I think you are right on that.

Still gives me the wiggums. :(

We had some abandoned children living outside in the “wilds” when I was growing up. They stole food from local gardens and other sources. I always felt bad when they got moved into foster homes but still got called “wild” and teased in school. Kids barked at them and asked if they ate raw meat. These stories of abuse and neglect break my heart. They’re surviving as best they can-even it it means altering their reality.

    I agree Saraclark. So devastating.

    I couldn’t help but notice two things…

Who dresses these kids and how do they manage to give them stylish haircuts in such a state?
