So Advocating Throwing Acid On Elected Democratic Women Is Okay?

June 3, 2012 - Author: newscoma - Comments are closed

Here is your Sunday School lesson to ponder: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

As I write this, I’m angry and suffering a high-level of pisstivity because this is just wrong.

Oh, please, let ABC news explain.

Jay Townsend, a campaign spokesman for Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth (NY-19) has ignited a controversy after he said, “Let’s hurl some acid” at female Democratic senators.

Townsend’s comments (which have since been removed) were posted Thursday on a local Facebook discussion forum for New York’s 19 th congressional district. Townsend was responding to comments made by a commenter named “Tom” during an online debate over gas prices. Townsend wrote:

“Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz. My question today … when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector.”

WTF!!?!?!?

I usually write, and even speak, in a way where I want to extend a conversation. Not today, campers, I’m so pissed off that I can’t breathe. And, many times I write about state politics, but not today because this isn’t a New York thing, this is an issue about women and there is an attitude nationwide that women are still less than. You want to put me back in the kitchen, GOP, you are going to have to haul me back there in cuffs. And advocating disfiguring women who are democrats?

Unbelievable.

Townsend, you are a piece of rotting cow dung and Nan, they are calling you Taliban Nan on social media sites for a reason. How are you helping women? How could you not fire this man immediately? It’s been three days. Three damned days and nothing other than removing the offending post from Facebook and the comments from her congressional pages.

There are some great women running for office in Tennessee. I have no control over other states but we need more elected women who can stop this nonsense in our own backyard. Women who will stand with other women, DESPITE their political affiliations and make it better. Good Lord, when did we move back into the Dark Ages?

I have tried, as many people I know have, to live by example even if my voice has been shaking and even when we have been scared of the end result. I want more women, and men for that matter, who will take a stand and say no more. Who will call this shit out.

And if you are a woman trying to deliberately hurt other women to further your political career, let’s just say we aren’t going to be bosom buddies. I will work to get you out of office.

For God’s sake, people, this kind of stuff is happening everywhere. Maybe not to this extent but it’s happening. Just read the papers, it is happening everywhere. Don’t like an “uppity” or “educated” or “opinionated” woman who is strong, then justifying a right to hurt them is heinous and frightening.

Wait, is it just women without the adjectives? Let’s get this straight, it’s just women who aren’t bowing and subservient.

I’m done with this, I really am. I’m so damned over this and instead of getting scared, I’m angry.

We all need to be angry. As the old saying goes, if you aren’t outraged, you aren’t paying attention.

    Jesus, that’s horrible.

  2. Keep in mind that Jay Townsend was the Republican candidate for Senate in New York in 2010 (running against Chuck Schumer). This is not just some small-beans spokesperson; this guy is integral to New York State Republican politics. For further reading, I suggest people go to these pages:
